Our hearts are heavy with the loss of Judy Rack, who was a treasured part of our school community. The news of the passing of this wonderful person who devoted thirty years of her life to being a bright light in our kindergarten and our school leaves us saddened.

Judy Rack was more than just a teacher. She was a shining example of warmth, generosity, and knowledge in the hallways of Pope John XXIII School. Her unwavering dedication to fostering the intellectual and emotional development of young pupils made an unforgettable impression on the students who had the honor and privilege of being in her classroom throughout the course of three decades. Judy’s unyielding enthusiasm for teaching shone through in each and every class, generating an atmosphere that enriched students' lives by imbuing a love of learning and encouraging a sense of inquiry.

Judy’s contagious energy and genuine concern for the well-being of the children who entered her classroom over the course of generations has left an indelible mark on their lives. Her passion for education stretched beyond the field of academics. She became a pillar of support and a source of inspiration for both students and professionals alike. Her dedication to education was exceptional. It is impossible to overstate the span of influence she has had on the Pope John community.

Every facet of Judy’s life reflected the love that she had for her pupils and the community that she served at Pope John. She made it clear on several occasions how important these connections were to her, describing how they molded the fundamental foundation of her life. She created a feeling of family and belonging with students and their families alike that will be remembered for many years to come, because the connections that she made with them went well beyond the confines of the classroom.

The tragic news of Judy’s passing has left a hole in our lives that cannot be filled by words alone. Her departure is painfully felt by everyone who had the distinction of being able to call her a friend. The people whose lives she touched will carry in their hearts the reverberations of her laughter, the warmth of her smile, the memories she helped foster, and the wealth of knowledge that she shared.

​In honor of Miss Judy Rack, and at the request of her family, Pope John XXIII School is creating a scholarship fund in her name, so that future students will continue to be welcomed by her lasting impact and memory.
