Music Program
One of our excellent fine arts programs is our music program with Mrs. Marcheschi. The students from preschool to sixth grade are scheduled for one music class weekly for the whole year. Then during the three weeks before Lessons and Carols and before the Spring Show the music classes become rehearsals with first one additional practice one week, then two additional practices for the two weeks prior to the show. Sometimes the students' additional music/rehearsal class is during a computer or a gym class. But the schedule is redone to make sure that each student has at least one computer and one gym per week during this three-week period. Movement is a big part of each music lesson both during show times and all year long. 7th and 8th graders can choose during the elective period from musical theatre, dance, or choral singing to develop their musical talents. Music theory, music appreciation, music from different cultures, and performance are integral parts of our music program. Fine Arts Programs are thriving at Pope John!
